Capability Mapping Directory.

Welcome to Toowoomba & Surat Basin Enterprise’s (TSBE) Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Capability Profile and Membership Directory registration portal.

The Capability Profile and Membership directory was last completed in 2014 for the mining sector. This second mapping exercise now includes the energy sector. With current approved projects and current Development Applications under review, this has never been a more opportunistic time to review the capability in the region. The past six years has seen significant new infrastructure, along with the development and advancement of innovation and technologies in all industry sectors as well as continued growth in the advanced manufacturing in Southern Queensland.

As major projects within our region are announced and tender opportunities progress, this capability mapping project will assist businesses to position their capabilities for both developers and buyers.

The data collection is aligned with Queensland State Government 10-Year Road Map, which is to undertake an industry needs analysis, to identify key activities and processes in the energy and resource sector supply chain in the Southern Queensland region and identify gaps in the supply chain in the oil, gas and energy sectors.

This report will be used to identify METS sector capability and export market opportunities, in order to promote these businesses to pursue growth, as well as advocate and attract investment opportunities for the Southern Queensland region. This will be analysed by the Queensland State Government to identify if demand can support the required infrastructure or investment.

The METS Capability Mapping Project is brought to the Southern Queensland region by the Southern Queensland Export Hub (SQ Export Hub), designed and delivered by TSBE. The SQ Export Hub and associated projects has been funded by the Australian Government, Queensland Government and TSBE.

This portal has been compiled by TSBE for businesses involved in the supply chain in Southern Queensland. Significant care has been taken to confirm the currency and accuracy of the material. TSBE holds no responsibility for errors or omissions and will ensure that any changes in projects are included in subsequent editions.

Facts & Opportunities for our region.

Australian Oil, Gas & Energy businesses are renowned for innovative and new technologies globally. The Southern Queensland energy corridor is known for oil, gas and renewable energy production, with significant investment in renewables made in Queensland since 2016 (source: DNRME).

The region boasts a strong network of infrastructure that can accommodate large quantities of renewable capability near established grids and demand. Investment into this sector offers diversification opportunities for existing operators and new industries.

TSBE estimates there are close to $4.225B in resources, renewable and energy projects currently underway and/or approved and waiting commencement throughout the Toowoomba and Surat Basin region. A further $3.255B has been estimated in proposed projects throughout the sectors.

How Can Local Businesses Contribute?

Regional businesses can register their capabilities with this questionnaire that has been designed in a way that all developers and procurement teams promote buy local where the capability exists for all goods and services within the oil, gas and energy sectors. Completing the questionnaire and registering your business, will increase visibility and chances of being selected to work on all projects in the future.

Businesses are required to provide their details and nominate capability and capacity through selecting nominated procurement or scopes of work, professional services, equipment, goods and services. The work could include for example engineering services (electrical, mechanical and civil), EPCM, EPC, manufacturing, logistics and legal to reference a few in oil, gas, solar, wind and mining. The contracted level could be head contractor or at a sub-contract level.

If you believe that you have goods or services not identified in the questionnaire, please ensure you provide the details, so we can include to ensure there are no gaps in the project delivery from preliminary land searches to final decommissioning of any energy project.

Together with general business information it will allow TSBE to produce a visual directory to showcase Southern Queensland’s supply chain.
